Biography

Josep GĂłmez Serrano is an architect and professor specializing in structural analysis and GaudĂ­’s work. Currently, he holds the position of professor of structures at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Barcelona (UPC).

He graduated in 1973 and is a Professor of Structures II in the Department of Structures of the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Barcelona (UPC). Since 1986, he has been part of the construction team of the Sagrada Familia, the temple designed by Antoni GaudĂ­. With Jordi FaulĂ­ i Oller, they collaborate on the structural analysis of GaudĂ­’s temple, incorporating new technologies (CAD, computer simulation, 3D images) to prepare a virtual plan of the temple that allows recreating down to the last detail the project prepared by GaudĂ­ and carrying out execution. He has written various informative books on GaudĂ­’s work: as author, “L’obrador de GaudĂ­” (1996); as co-author, “From GaudĂ­ to CAD” and “GaudĂ­ invisible” (2003). He was the architectural curator of the GaudĂ­ exhibition “The Search for Form” (2002).
