Biography
Chaolee Kuo is an expert in the theory and history of modern architecture, architectural and urban design, and city conservation education. He earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Architecture at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, where he also completed pre-doctoral studies. Kuo holds a Master’s degree from the Yale School of Architecture and a Bachelor’s degree from Chung Yuan University in Taiwan. Kuo has held various significant roles, including President of the Foundation of Environmental Planning and Urban Study in Taiwan, Curator of the Taiwan Pavilion at the 2008 Venice Biennale, and Chair of the Graduate Institute of Urban Planning at Taipei University. He has also served as an Associate Professor at Tunghai University and as Founding Editor of Dialogue Magazine. His architectural practice includes work with Bower Fradley Architects and The Kling Partnership in Philadelphia. Notable publications by Kuo include “City Conservation and Public Sphere in Taiwan” and “Dark City.” His contributions have had a substantial impact on urban planning and architecture in Taiwan and internationally.
