Biography

Arata Isozaki (July 23, 1931 – December 28, 2022) was a renowned Japanese architect, urban designer, and theorist from Ōita, Kyushu. Known for his innovative and diverse architectural style, Isozaki’s career spanned over six decades during which he designed more than 100 buildings globally.

Arata Isozaki’s early work, influenced by his mentor Kenzo Tange, showcased modernist principles, but he later developed a unique approach integrating both Eastern and Western design elements. Throughout his prolific career, Isozaki’s architectural achievements earned him numerous accolades and recognitions. He also served as the Honorary President of the 2014 Global World Congress (GWC).
